MRR Feeding Calculator

How much should your Murray eat? Put in their weight, age and the energy printed on their food, and this works out a daily amount in grams, split into meals. It is built for Murray River Retrievers: puppies, grown dogs, working retrievers and bitches with pups, checked against the weights recorded on the MRRA register.

MRRA members: sign in and pick your dog from My Dogs to fill this in.

About your Murray

years months

A Murray's curls hide a lot: judge by feel, not by eye. Run a flat hand along the ribs and over the back.

Find the energy on the bag or tin, usually near the ingredients. It may say kcal or kJ, per 100 g or per kg.

Fill in the weight, age and the food's energy to see how much to feed.

The weights recorded on the MRRA register for grown Murrays: dogs 20 to 32 kg, bitches 18 to 26 kg. This calculator is a guide, worked from the formulas vets use. Every dog is different: weigh the food with kitchen scales, check body condition every 2 to 4 weeks and change the amount by about 10% if needed. Ask your vet about a dog that is unwell, on a special diet, or a bitch in whelp.
