Hard-baked oat and seed bars for dogs.

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup plain soy flour
  • 1 Cup natural oat bran (this is wheat free)
  • 1 Cup oats
  • 1/8 Cup ground sunflower seeds
  • 1/8 Cup sesame seeds
  • 3 Tablespoons honey
  • 3 Tablespoons olive (or sesame) oil
  • 1/2-3/4 Cup beef or chicken stock

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 140° C. Place all dry ingredients in a bowl with the oil. Use 1/2 Cup of stock to dissolve the honey & stir into the dry ingredients. Gradually add more water to bind ingredients together. Don't make mixture too wet or you'll get a sticky mess!! Turn out onto a board and pat into a mound, then flatten out in a square with a rolling pin, no thicker than 1cm. Cut into bars approx 10cm x 4cm. Place on a greased tray & bake till nice & hard, approx 1.5 hours. After half an hour, cover with tin foil to stop over-browning

Our dogs love these as much as their Dentastix!!

Club note: bought stock often contains onion or garlic and a lot of salt. Use a plain stock made without them.
